Lagos Seals Six Steel Firms for Environmental Violations

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed six iron and steel manufacturing companies located in the Odogunyan Industrial Layout, Ikorodu, due to alleged environmental violations. This action was announced on Monday and was executed by LASEPA's Enforcement Team under the directive of the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr.

Tokunbo Wahab. The affected companies include Germini Steel Nigeria Limited, Top Steel Nigeria Limited, Pulkit Alloy Nigeria Limited, Landcraft Steel Nigeria Limited, Sunflag Steel Nigeria Limited, and African Steel Nigeria Limited.

Inspections revealed multiple breaches, including the emission of various harmful particulate matters that threaten air quality and public health. Dr.

Babatunde Ajayi, General Manager of LASEPA, stated that the agency would continue to enforce compliance with environmental regulations and urged industries to prioritize environmental responsibility. The Lagos State Government is committed to protecting residents from industrial pollution and will sanction violators of environmental standards.
