Lagos Launches Vaccination for 1,600 Hajj Pilgrims

The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board has announced a vaccination plan for 1,600 intending Hajj pilgrims ahead of the 2023 pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia. Abdulhakeem Ajomagberin, the board's secretary, disclosed that the vaccination exercise, aimed at ensuring compliance with global health standards, will include inoculations for meningitis, oral polio, yellow fever, and influenza.

The program is scheduled to commence on April 21, 2023, at designated local government venues, starting with Shamsi Adisa Thomas Mosque Hall in Ikeja. Subsequent vaccination sessions will take place in various localities, including Ajeromi, Apapa, Ojo, Alimosho, and Badagry, with the final sessions concluding on April 29, 2023.

Ajomagberin emphasized the importance of compliance with the vaccination schedule, as proof of vaccination is a requirement set by the Saudi Arabian authorities for participation in the Hajj. He warned that pilgrims who fail to receive the necessary vaccinations will be disqualified from the journey.
