Athlete Injured by Ambulance at Lagos City Marathon

During the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, an athlete was hit by an ambulance while approaching the finish area. The incident occurred near the medal collection zone, raising public concerns about safety protocols and crowd management for emergency vehicles within active race corridors.

Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, a spokesperson for the Lagos State government, confirmed that the ambulance was part of the marathon's medical emergency response team. The athlete, a woman, sustained bruises and complained of chest pain but was stabilized at the scene.

Emergency medical personnel promptly assessed her condition and transported her to a public health facility for further evaluation. Her vital signs remained stable, and she is currently receiving treatment.
