Lagos State Transfers Obalende Park to MTN for Redevelopment

On the previous day, Lagos State officially handed over Obalende Park to MTN Nigeria for redevelopment as part of efforts to transform public spaces and tackle environmental challenges. The initiative, led by Tokunbo Wahab, aims to convert the underutilized park into a functional and sustainable asset.

MTN Nigeria, through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, will redesign the park to include modern facilities such as an organized motor garage, 60 public toilets, and electric vehicle charging points. The project is expected to be completed within 21 weeks.

Wahab emphasized that the redevelopment will not only improve aesthetics but also enhance security and eliminate criminal activities in the area. Additionally, the project is part of ongoing flood mitigation efforts, with inspections of drainage systems in the region to ensure effective water flow and prevent flooding.
