Lagos Graduates 6,190 from Skills Acquisition Programme

The Lagos State Government has graduated 6,190 residents from the 2025 Skills Acquisition Programme organized by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. The graduation ceremony took place on Tuesday at the De Blue Roof, Lagos Television, Agidingbi, Ikeja, with 4,225 females and 1,963 males among the graduates.

Representing Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, stated that the event reflects the administration’s commitment to equipping residents with practical skills to enhance household incomes and economic participation. The governor highlighted the Free Skills Acquisition Centres, which provide vocational and entrepreneurial training at no cost, enabling residents to establish businesses and secure employment.

He also mentioned the Micro Enterprise Support Initiative (MESI), which has supported over 3,800 residents with equipment and business start-up assistance. Commissioner Hon. Bolaji Cecilia Dada noted that the ministry operates 19 Skills Acquisition Centres across Lagos State, promoting economic independence and poverty reduction.

Mrs Ariori Rachael Eyitayo encouraged graduates to transition from “Learning to Earning” by applying their skills effectively.
