Lagos Task Force Arrests 33 Suspected Criminals in Raid

On July 27, 2026, the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit conducted a coordinated raid across Lagos Island and the Lekki corridor, resulting in the arrest of 33 suspected criminals. The operation, which took place in the early morning, targeted street urchins, drug peddlers, suspected drug addicts, illegal commercial motorcyclists, ticket touts, and other miscreants.

Recovered items included substances suspected to be Tramadol, Indian hemp, Colorado, marijuana, and cannabis, alongside dangerous weapons such as cutlasses and scissors. The operation covered areas including Ikate Bus Stop, Marwa Bus Stop, Muri Okunola Park in Victoria Island, Obalende Underbridge, and Law School Junction.

All suspects have been charged under the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law, 2017, and the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018, where applicable. CSP Adetayo Akerele, Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, affirmed the agency's commitment to ongoing intelligence-driven operations to combat crime and restore public order.
