Lagos Police Arrest 147 Suspects, Seize Weapons and Drugs

On July 19, 2026, the Lagos State Police Command conducted coordinated raids across various parts of Lagos, resulting in the arrest of 147 suspects. The operation, part of an ongoing initiative to dismantle criminal hideouts, was executed by a joint team drawn from different formations within the command.

According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, the raids were based on credible intelligence and targeted identified black spots within the state. During the operation, police recovered 250 expanded cartridges, two knives, one lighter, five battle axes, one pair of scissors, assorted charms, 22 machetes, and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.

The suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue to determine their involvement in criminal activities, with plans for prosecution. The Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, Tijani Fatai, commended the officers involved in the operation and reaffirmed the command's commitment to ensuring public safety.
