Lagos Task Force Impounds 278 Motorcycles in Crackdown

The Lagos State Environment Special Offence Unit, led by CSP Adetayo Akerel, conducted a week-long operation that resulted in the impounding of 278 motorcycles for violating the state’s ban on commercial motorcycle operations on restricted routes. This operation aligns with the directives of the Lagos State government to enhance security, protect lives and property, and prevent criminal activities across the state.

The operation, which took place in various locations including Ikorodu, Agric Bus Stop, Festac, and Iyana Iba, was part of a broader enforcement exercise aimed at ensuring compliance with the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law of 2018. Akerel noted that the crackdown followed an earlier enforcement action and emphasized the agency's commitment to maintaining pressure on violators of traffic and environmental security laws.

The impounded motorcycles will undergo forfeiture proceedings in accordance with state law.
