Lagos Trains 400 Officers for Retirement Transition

The Lagos State Government organized the 2026 Pre-Retirement Sensitisation Workshop at the Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, The Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, training 400 officers in the Unified Local Government Service on transitioning from active service to retirement. Ms.

Toyin Ogunlana, the Permanent Secretary of the Office of Local Government Establishments and Training, stated that retirement should be viewed as a new life phase requiring careful planning and informed decision-making. She highlighted challenges faced by retiring officers, such as limited knowledge of pension administration and financial planning.

The workshop aimed to provide practical guidance for achieving financial security and emotional stability post-retirement. The theme of the workshop was “Retirement Ready: Ensuring a Seamless Transition from Service to Pension.” Mr.

Babalola Obilana, Director-General of the Lagos State Pension Commission, commended the initiative and urged participants to engage with their Pension Fund Administrators. Mrs.

Bukonla Durodola, Permanent Secretary of the Local Government Service Commission, also provided advice to the officers.
