HURIWA Praises Uba Sani for Fair Land Compensation

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) commended Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for his handling of compensation for citizens affected by the 15-kilometer ring road project near Danbushiya Junction and Danhono 2 Junction. In a statement signed by Comrade Emmanuel Nnadozi Onwubiko, HURIWA praised Sani's commitment to ensuring that no citizen would be dispossessed of property without fair and adequate compensation.

The organization highlighted that N3 billion had been distributed to 122 affected households as part of various infrastructure projects, underscoring the governor's approach to balancing infrastructural development with the constitutional rights of citizens. HURIWA called on other state governors to emulate Sani's model of institutionalizing transparent compensation mechanisms and engaging affected communities during compulsory land acquisitions, emphasizing that public interest should not justify injustices or hardships for citizens.
