HURIWA Commends Uba Sani for Fair Land Compensation

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) praised Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for his handling of compensation for citizens impacted by the 15-kilometer ring road project near Danbushiya Junction and Danhono 2 Junction. In a statement signed by Comrade Emmanuel Nnadozi Onwubiko, HURIWA commended Sani for ensuring that no citizen would be dispossessed of property without fair and adequate compensation, highlighting a distribution of N3 billion to 122 affected households.

The organization noted that Sani's approach sets a standard for balancing infrastructural development with constitutional rights and dignity. HURIWA argued that the law empowers state governments to acquire land but should not lead to arbitrary dispossession without proper compensation.

They urged other state governors to emulate Sani's model of transparency and justice in land acquisition processes, emphasizing that fair treatment of citizens fosters public trust and legitimacy in governance.
