Uba Sani Launches N34bn Erosion Control Project in Kaduna

On [date not specified], Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State flagged off an erosion control project in the Rigasa Tudun Wada ward of Igabi, Kaduna South. The project, which will cost N34 billion, aims to address perennial flooding issues that have plagued the area for the last 40 years.

At the event, Sani disclosed that N2 billion in compensation has been paid to 1,000 residents whose properties will be affected by the project. He emphasized that the government will not demolish any property without providing adequate compensation, having already paid a total of N5 billion in compensation to date.

The governor stated that the project is designed to protect livelihoods and restore dignity to the community, which has suffered from flooding and erosion. The intervention spans a total of 17.8 km and is expected to significantly reduce flood risk, protect homes, and enhance the socio-economic conditions for approximately 500 residents within the corridor.
