Lagos State Begins Compensation for Rail Project Affected Properties

The Lagos State Government has commenced the compensation process for property owners affected by the Blue Line Rail project, specifically in the Okokomaiko area. This initiative, led by the Lagos State Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), began on Wednesday and is set to continue through Friday.

A statement from LAMATA indicated that a stakeholder forum was held to inform tenants about the claims process, which requires them to present official project identification cards issued during an earlier enumeration exercise, along with tenancy rent payment receipts and recent passport photographs. Oba Sulaimon Adeshina of the Iba Kingdom emphasized the importance of tenant cooperation for the successful delivery of the rail project and encouraged residents to channel any grievances through the palace.

LAMATA announced that the disbursement of compensation would commence next week, running from Wednesday to Friday.
