LAMATA Denies Inducement Claims in Blue Line Project

The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has firmly rejected allegations of inducement concerning compensation payments for tenants and property owners in the Ojo area linked to the Blue Line project. The authority emphasized that compensation payments are strictly guided by Lagos State government policies, which are designed to ensure fair support for relocations.

LAMATA highlighted that it remains a subnational government entity in Nigeria, and compensation for tenants is conducted based on replacement costs and international standards. The statement reaffirmed that land was lawfully acquired in the public interest to support critical rail infrastructure projects, which are expected to move thousands of commuters daily, improve mobility, stimulate economic activity, and enhance the quality of life along the Marina, Okokomaiko, and Agbara corridor.

Furthermore, the Blue Line will integrate with the proposed Purple Line and Volkswagen axis to enhance connectivity across Lagos, with LAMATA operating strictly within the law.
