LAMATA Begins Compensation for Blue Line Rail Depot Tenants

The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), has commenced a compensation process for tenants displaced due to the land acquisition for the Blue Line Rail Depot in Okokomaiko, part of the broader Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line project. During a stakeholder engagement meeting held at the palace of Oba Sulaimon Adeshina, traditional leaders and LAMATA officials discussed the compensation procedures and project timelines.

Abidemi Atobatel, LAMATA's Rail Project Manager, outlined the documentation required for tenants to claim compensation, which includes identification documents, tenancy agreements, and recent photographs. The compensation exercise is scheduled to run from Wednesday to Friday of the following week, aiming for an orderly payout.

Oba Sulaimon Adeshina urged residents to cooperate with the Lagos State Government to ensure the successful delivery of the rail project, which is intended to enhance public transport infrastructure and economic activity along the corridor.
