LASTMA Impounds 84 Vehicles for Traffic Violations in Lagos

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) impounded 84 vehicles, both commercial and private, during a significant enforcement operation aimed at addressing traffic violations in Lagos. The operation took place over the weekend at key locations including Idumota, Iddo, Ijora-Olopa, Costain, and Onipanu, focusing on areas with frequent violations by motorists and commercial bus operators.

LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki expressed concern over commercial buses driving against traffic and reversing unlawfully, particularly along the one-way section between Iddo and Idumota through Cater Bridge, which poses serious risks to road users. The operation faced resistance, resulting in injuries to some LASTMA officers and the arrest of individuals who allegedly attacked them.

Bakare-Oki reiterated the agency's commitment to enforcing traffic regulations and warned against illegal parking and use of unauthorized spaces as garages. He urged all road users to adhere to traffic laws to ensure public safety.
