LAWMA Transforms Old Tyres into Stylish Household Tables

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has launched an initiative to convert abandoned tyres into household tables, demonstrating innovative waste management practices. This project was disclosed by Mukaila Sanusi, Director of Public Affairs at LAWMA, during a presentation on Wednesday.

Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of LAWMA, praised the creativity of the interns involved, emphasizing the importance of transforming waste into valuable resources.

The initiative aligns with LAWMA's vision of promoting a sustainable circular economy and encourages young Nigerians to embrace recycling and environmental innovation. Sadiq Boluwatif, a class representative from Team Zero Trace, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to gain practical knowledge in sustainable waste management.

The project produced tables from two discarded tyres, featuring a storage shelf beneath, combining functionality with aesthetic appeal. This initiative not only highlights the potential of recycling but also aims to create economic opportunities and promote cleaner communities in Lagos State.
