Lawyer and Accomplice Arraigned for Forgery in Lagos

Tund Awogbad, a 66-year-old lawyer, and his accomplice Obayomi Olaley were arraigned on Friday at the Tinubu Magistrate Court in Lagos for allegedly forging official revenue stamps from the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service. They face six counts including conspiracy, perjury, and forgery.

The charges stem from allegations that they created false documents related to a power of attorney dated December 14, 2019, and made false declarations in court. The prosecution, led by CSP Mondai Omo Osagi, also accused them of breaking into Borngreat Health Care Research Laboratory in Oril Iganmu on June 22, 2023, and assaulting Paul Orizu with a machete, causing bodily harm.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to all charges. The court granted bail to Olaley in the sum of N10 million, while Awogbad was admitted to bail on self-recognition.

Both defendants were remanded at Ikoyi Correctional Centre pending the fulfillment of their bail conditions, with the case adjourned to June 19, 2026.
