Ondo Lecturer and Union Leader Charged with Forgery

Segun Olowoyo, a lecturer, and Saka Olokungboy, a non-academic staff member and chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics (SSANIP), were arraigned at the Akure Magistrate's Court over alleged conspiracy and forgery. The prosecution, led by Afolabi Ahm, accused them of manipulating examination records for students in the Department of Public Administration during February 2023.

The alleged offenses involved altering students' second-semester results for the 2022/2023 academic session. Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The court granted bail to Olowoyo in the sum of N1 million with two sureties, while Olokungboy was granted bail of N500,000 with two sureties, one of whom must be a staff member of the polytechnic. The case has been adjourned to July 2026.

The anti-corruption commission is investigating the alleged examination malpractice, revealing evidence that Olowoyo awarded grades to students who did not sit for the examination.
