Turaki Faction of PDP to Appeal Court Ruling on Leadership

Taminu Turaki, leading the interim National Working Committee of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), announced plans to appeal a judgment by the Federal High Court in Abuja. The court, presided over by Justice Salim Ibrahim, dismissed the suit filed by Turaki's faction, which sought recognition of its leadership.

The ruling, issued on a Friday, upheld a preliminary objection raised by Adolphus Wabara's faction, which is recognized as the board of trustees of the PDP. The court deemed the case an internal party matter, falling outside its jurisdiction.

In response, Ini Ememobong, the national publicity secretary of the Turaki-led faction, expressed disagreement with the judgment, asserting inconsistencies and a lack of jurisdiction in the court's decision. Ememobong stated that the faction would appeal the ruling, emphasizing the importance of legal principles in a multi-party democracy and the ongoing struggle for political power against greed.
