Leadway Assurance Disburses N396m to Farmers for Losses

Leadway Assurance, alongside its partners, disbursed a total of N396.69 million in insurance payouts to smallholder farmers for climate-related losses incurred during the 2025 wet season. The disbursement ceremony took place at the National Agribusiness Plan Mechanism (NAPM) in Abuja and benefited farmers from Plateau, Borno, Kaduna, and Taraba states.

Gboyega Lesi, Chief Executive of Leadway Assurance, emphasized the company's commitment to supporting farmers and highlighted the critical role of agricultural insurance in safeguarding livelihoods and stabilizing food production. Fatona Ayoola, Global Head of Agricultural Risk Solutions at Leadway Assurance, stated that agricultural resilience is vital for Nigeria's food security and that the claim payments exemplify their understanding of empowering farmers to recover and rebuild.

Dr. Michael Enahoro, a Pula advisor, stressed that the partnership between PFSCU and Leadway Assurance demonstrates a workable approach to managing agricultural risks and ensuring food security in Nigeria.
