Lekki Residents Demand Action Over Two-Week Power Outage

Residents of Lekki Phase 1 have been enduring a power outage for nearly two weeks, attributed to a transformer fault. They have criticized the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) for negligence, poor communication, and indifference during this period.

In interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria, residents reported significant financial impacts, including spoiled food and increased fuel costs for private generators. Mr.

Taiwo Bolodeoku noted the lack of information or apologies from EKEDC, while Mrs. Margaret Sogbesan accused the company of politicizing the situation.

Mr. David Nezaya described the unbearable conditions for those working from home, and Ms.

Efe Obiomah mentioned having to turn off her refrigerator. An EKEDC official, Mr.

Adeyemi Razaq, stated that the company is working to restore power and that materials needed for repairs have been requested and approved, with hopes for restoration by the following week.
