Liverpool FC Delays Ticket Price Hike After Fan Protests

Liverpool FC has decided to postpone the implementation of its full ticket price increase plan, which was set to be rolled out in a phased manner over three years. This decision follows significant backlash from fans, particularly from the fan group Spirit of Shankly, who expressed their dissent through protests, including the display of yellow cards at Anfield during a recent match against Crystal Palace.

The protests highlighted concerns that the price increases posed a risk to the "soul" of Anfield. Liverpool FC stated that they would consult with the supporters' board to find commercial solutions to avoid widespread price rises in the future.

The club's announcement came after it achieved record revenue figures of £750 million for the year ending May 2025, prompting fans to question the necessity of the planned price increases, which Spirit of Shankly labeled as being driven by greed.
