Labour Party Leverages Grassroots for 2027 Elections

The Labour Party (LP) is focusing on its grassroots structure and connections with organized labor to support its candidates in the 2027 general elections. Mr. Ken Asogwa, the National Publicity Secretary, made this statement during an interview in Abuja on Tuesday, ahead of the campaign commencement on August 19.

He highlighted the party's robust organizational framework, energized membership, and a credible presidential candidate who is young and well-educated. Asogwa noted that the party's candidates at the state level possess integrity and are marketable to voters.

He emphasized the unique advantage the LP has due to its institutional ties with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), which allows for a widespread grassroots presence among civil servants. Asogwa expressed confidence that all governorship and State House of Assembly candidates would be listed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), stating that the party had already met INEC’s deadline for candidate submissions.
