Labour Party NEC Meeting Set for June 11 to Ratify Candidates

The Labour Party has announced a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for June 11, aimed at ratifying candidates for the 2027 general elections. This decision follows the conclusion of recent primary elections, where the party approved submissions to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Ken Asogwa, the party's national public secretary, stated that the NEC meeting will convene in line with Article 28 of the party's 2026 constitution, bringing together statutory members and representatives from INEC, media, and stakeholders. The meeting is expected to validate the outcomes of the primary elections conducted across the country and authorize the submission of successful candidates to INEC in accordance with the Electoral Act.

Asogwa described this forthcoming NEC meeting as a significant milestone in the party's preparations for the 2027 elections, marking the first gathering since the recent national convention where candidates for the polls were nominated.
