Madugu Calls for Improvement After Falcons' Loss to Senegal

Justin Madugu, the head coach of the Nigeria Women's National Football Team, admitted that the team must improve after their 2-1 defeat to Senegal in an international friendly held at the Remo Star Sport Complex. Asisat Oshoala converted a penalty in the first half to give Nigeria a lead, but Senegal's Toni Payn equalized, and Sokhna Nogay scored a long-range effort in the 86th minute to reduce the deficit.

Madugu assessed the performance as having shortcomings but noted it was a good result considering the nature of friendly matches. He emphasized the importance of these preparatory games in assessing squad depth and readiness for the upcoming 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations.

Madugu stated that there is always room for improvement and acknowledged the work that lies ahead. The two teams are scheduled to meet again on Monday, June 8, for a second friendly match as part of their preparation for the tournament.
