Madugu Aims to Defend WAFCON Title for Nigeria in 2024

Justin Madugu, the head coach of Nigeria's Women's National Football Team, is focused on defending the team's title at the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) scheduled from July 25 to August 16 in Morocco. The tournament will also serve as qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup.

Madugu expressed the importance of reclaiming the WAFCON crown, emphasizing that the team has two major objectives: to secure World Cup qualification and to defend their title. He acknowledged the challenges ahead, stating that every team will be eager to compete against Nigeria, which has a record of ten WAFCON titles.

The Super Falcons, who recently faced Senegal in a friendly series, are aware of areas needing improvement as they prepare for the tournament. Nigeria has been drawn into Group C alongside Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana, with their title defense beginning against Tunisia.
