APM Challenges Tinubu to Travel Without Security Escorts

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) issued a challenge to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Defence Minister Gen. Christopher Musa (retd.) to travel on Nigerian roads without armed escorts, questioning their claims of improved security. This statement, signed by APM's National Publicity Secretary Abubakar Yusuf, criticized the government's optimistic view of security, contrasting it with the daily dangers faced by citizens.

The APM referenced the 2026 Global Terrorism Index, which ranked Nigeria as the fourth most insecure country, worsening from sixth place in 2025. The party alleged that over 600,000 Nigerians have been killed and at least 2.2 million abducted since Tinubu's administration began.

They also mentioned a recent abduction of about 600 individuals in several villages, primarily women, children, and the elderly. The APM condemned the government's minimization of abductions and called for public support for their presidential candidate, Oyo State Governor, who has a plan to tackle insecurity and other national issues ahead of the 2027 elections.
