APM Disputes Tinubu's Security Claims, Cites Rising Death Toll

The Allied Peoples Movement has mounted a challenge to President Bola Tinubu's administration regarding its portrayal of Nigeria's security landscape, contending that officials lack awareness of what Nigerians actually confront daily. Abubakar Yusuf, serving as the APM's National Publicity Secretary, released this statement to respond to remarks made publicly by General Christopher Musa, the Defence Minister, who suggested conditions have gotten better under the Tinubu government.

International rankings provide the foundation for the APM's counterargument to Defence Ministry assertions. The party has pointed out that Nigeria's Global Terrorism Index position now stands at fourth worldwide, which party officials say reflects developments occurring throughout Tinubu's administration.

Furthermore, the opposition cited mortality figures exceeding 600,000 persons alongside roughly 2.2 million individuals subjected to abduction beginning when Tinubu took power in 2023. The APM issued a direct dare to both the President and the Defence Minister: traverse roads throughout Nigeria while forgoing armed protection details, should they truly believe strengthened security exists.

Framing this as verification of whether those leading the nation genuinely accept their publicly stated claims regarding improvement, the party argued that continued use of substantial security protection undermines official pronouncements. The opposition party characterized official government messaging as refusal to acknowledge verified facts rather than honest appraisal.
