Oyo Governor Makinde on Rescued Schoolchildren's Status

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde addressed the situation regarding the rescued schoolchildren and their teacher from Oriire Local Government Area, who were abducted on May 15. He stated that they will remain under military custody to undergo essential medical care and routine monitoring.

During a visit to the 2 Division Medical Centre at Odogbo Barrack in Ibadan, the governor noted that the victims would be closely observed for 48 hours due to their frail condition, requiring medical intervention. He clarified that while families are granted access to visit their loved ones, the formal reunion is temporarily delayed.

The children and teacher were taken hostage during an armed attack that resulted in the tragic death of a teacher. After 56 days in captivity, they were freed through a coordinated operation involving security agencies, as announced on a Friday.
