ADC Claims Malami's Prosecution is Politically Motivated

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi State has publicly stated that the prosecution of former Attorney General Abubakar Malami is politically motivated. In a joint statement signed by ADC state chairman Sufiyanu Bala and chairman of the ADC Elder Forum Alhaji Shehu Sambawa, the party emphasized that it does not oppose lawful investigations or prosecutions of anyone suspected of wrongdoing.

However, they accused the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), of using legal actions to weaken opposition parties. The ADC described the legal actions against Malami as part of a predetermined goal to discredit him and the party ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial elections.

They asserted that no amount of political persecution or intimidation would deter their commitment to unseat the APC. The ADC expressed solidarity with Malami, who served as Nigeria's Attorney General from 2015 to 2023, and reaffirmed their support for him despite the ongoing legal challenges.
