Man, 29, Remanded for Stealing Vehicle Batteries in Enugu

Oshim Daniel, a 29-year-old man, was arraigned in the Enugu State Magistrate Court and remanded in a correctional custodial centre for allegedly stealing vehicle batteries and other items. The Enugu State Police Command reported that Oshim was rescued from a mob that intended to lynch him on July 29, 2026, after he was accused of theft in Alulu-Nike, Enugu, on July 28, 2026.

Investigations revealed that he stole three vehicle batteries valued at ₦150,000, ₦45,000, and ₦32,000, which were identified by their owners. Additionally, a public address system, a Point-of-Sale (POS) device, a gas cylinder, a vehicle stereo system, a spare tyre, and other suspected stolen items were recovered.

Oshim confessed to the crime and was charged with three counts of stealing under the Criminal Code of Enugu State, 2004. Following his arraignment, he was remanded pending further court proceedings.
