Enugu Police Arraign Suspected Vehicle Battery Thief

The Enugu State Police Command has arraigned 29-year-old Oshim Daniel before an Enugu State Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing vehicle batteries and other valuables from residents of Alulu-Nike community. The incident occurred on July 28, 2026, and Daniel was rescued from an angry mob by operatives of the Abakpa Police Division on July 29, 2026.

Police investigations linked him to the theft of three vehicle batteries valued at N150,000, N45,000, and N32,000, which were identified by their owners. Additionally, a public address system, a Point-of-Sale device, a gas cylinder, a vehicle stereo system, and a spare tyre were recovered from him.

Daniel confessed to the crime and was charged with three counts of stealing under the Criminal Code of Enugu State, 2004. Following his arraignment, he was remanded in a correctional custodial centre.

Commissioner of Police Mamman Giwa commended the operatives for their actions and urged citizens to avoid jungle justice, advocating for proper police procedures in handling suspects.
