Man Arrested for Threatening to Kill US Vice President JD Vance in Ohio

Shannon Mathr, a 33-year-old resident of Toledo, Ohio, was arrested for threatening to kill US Vice President JD Vance during his visit to Ohio in January. Mathr allegedly made direct threats against Vance's life, prompting a federal indictment.

The investigation revealed that Mathr declared his intention to find the Vice President and use an M14 automatic gun to kill him. The United States Secret Service arrested Mathr on Friday and he remains in federal custody.

Apart from the threats against the Vice President, Mathr was found to possess multiple digital files of child sexual abuse materials, leading to a separate criminal inquiry. Mathr appeared before a US magistrate judge in Ohio on Friday for his initial court hearing.
