Nigerian Installer Warns on Solar Setup for Charging

On 3 August, a Nigerian solar installer showcased the energy requirements of a phone charging business in a video, warning entrepreneurs about the risks of inadequate solar setups. He demonstrated the load on his system, which reached approximately 300 watts with 16 power banks and 9 phones connected.

He stated that his current battery capacity of 1.2 kilowatt-hours would deplete within four hours under such conditions, highlighting the common mistake of using tubular batteries for charging operations. The installer insisted that lithium batteries are essential for businesses managing 20 to 30 power banks and numerous phones.

He also stressed the importance of having adequate solar panels, as a weak setup could lead to undercharging of lithium batteries, rendering the business non-operational during the day. His message resonated with others in the industry, prompting discussions about their own setups and challenges.
