Boko Haram and ISWAP Clash in Sambisa Forest, Casualties Reported

A significant clash occurred between rival factions of Boko Haram and ISWAP in the Sambisa Forest, located in the Bama Local Government Area of Borno State. Counter-terrorism expert Zagazola Makama reported that the confrontation led to the deaths of several fighters, with more than 30 members of the Jama’atu Ahlis-sunna (JAS) faction, including women and children, involved in the conflict.

Following the fighting, some surviving members fled into nearby bushes. This incident underscores the ongoing internal rivalry between the JAS and ISWAP factions as they vie for influence, territory, and resources in Borno State.

In response to the clashes, security forces in and around Bama and neighboring communities have heightened their vigilance, actively monitoring movements in the affected areas.
