23 Fighters Killed in Boko Haram and ISWAP Clash

A recent clash between Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in the Sambisa Forest area of Borno State resulted in the deaths of at least 23 fighters over two days. Counter-terrorism analyst Zagazola Makama reported that the confrontation began around Chingolo in Bama Local Government Area, triggered by ISWAP fighters moving into the area.

This led to an attack by Boko Haram elements already present, resulting in extended gunfire exchanges as both factions fought to defend their positions. The fighting is part of ongoing hostilities between the two groups vying for territory and influence in North-East Nigeria.

Security forces are monitoring the situation and gathering intelligence, as military operations against terrorist positions continue in the region. Despite the casualties, residents near Sambisa Forest have been advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to authorities.
