Mark Pitts Resigns as President of RCA Records

Mark Pitts has announced his resignation as President of Sony Music’s RCA Records, effective Tuesday, marking the end of his tenure that began in 2021. He held dual roles as President of the label and CEO of ByStorm Entertainment.

Pitts will co-found a multimedia management company focused on expanding music talent development and global cultural programs. He will maintain a consulting relationship with RCA and the broader Sony Music Group, advising on select acts he previously developed.

During his time at RCA, Pitts oversaw a roster that included major artists like Chris Brown and Miguel. His career spans several senior executive roles, including Vice President at Arista Records and President of Urban Music at Jive Records.

His exit comes amid the growing influence of African music, particularly Nigeria's Afrobeat, within global record labels. Sony Music has been actively engaging with the Nigerian music scene, supporting artists like Wizkid in their international projects.
