Trader Kidnapped by Masked Gunmen in Oyo State

On a Saturday evening, around 8:47 PM, a 60-year-old male trader was abducted by four masked gunmen in Oyo State, specifically in the Lagelu Local Government Area. The victim was accosted while returning home along the Jinarer Axis Alakia Road and was forcibly taken away in an unregistered ash-colored Toyota Corolla vehicle.

Olayinka Ayanlad, the state police public relations officer, confirmed the abduction in a statement released on Sunday in Ibadan, the state capital. Following the report, police operatives swiftly visited the scene and initiated necessary operational measures aimed at rescuing the victim and apprehending the kidnappers.

Ayanlad assured the public that resources are being deployed by the state command to ensure the safe release of the victim and bring the perpetrators to justice. This incident follows a series of kidnappings in the region, including a recent abduction along the Igbeti-Kishi road in Irepo Local Government Area in March 2026.
