Mike Odiakose, Esteemed Journalist, Passes Away in 2026

Mike Odiakose, a respected political journalist and former Media Aide, passed away on September 17, 2026. His death is a significant loss to his family, friends, and the journalism profession in Nigeria.

Odiakose had a distinguished career with various reputable media organizations, including The Observer, Nigerian Pilot, and Daily Assets newspapers, where he was known for his integrity and commitment to factual reporting. Rufa’i Ahmed Alkali, who served as the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from 2008 to 2012, highlighted Odiakose's professionalism and constructive advice during their collaboration.

In June 2014, when Alkali was appointed Special Adviser on Political Affairs to former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, he brought Odiakose onto his team. Odiakose's loyalty and competence were instrumental during a challenging transitional period.

He was recently nominated to join the National Movement for Tinubu Shettima – 2027. His passing is felt deeply, especially as Nigeria approaches another critical phase in its democratic journey.
