Nigerian Press Council Mourns Veteran Journalist Oladipo

The Nigerian Press Council (NPC) expressed profound sadness over the death of veteran journalist Dotun Oladipo, who passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, in Lagos, at the age of 56. In a statement signed by Anumodu Stella, Deputy Director of Research and Documentation, the NPC described Oladipo's death as a significant loss to the Nigerian media industry.

With nearly three decades of experience, Oladipo had a distinguished career in journalism, working with leading newspapers before founding The Eagle Online, where he played a crucial role in advancing digital journalism and online publishing in Nigeria. The Council acknowledged his notable contributions, especially in political reporting and digital journalism, emphasizing that his dedication to the profession would be remembered by the Nigerian journalism community.

The NPC extended condolences to Oladipo's family, colleagues, friends, and the management and staff of The Eagle Online, praying for strength and fortitude for those mourning his loss and eternal rest for the deceased.
