Military Families' Welfare Key to Personnel Morale

Mrs. Mernan Oluyede, the President of the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), stated that the welfare and security of military families are essential for the morale and effectiveness of military personnel. Speaking at a child welfare program organized by the National Defence College Officers’ Welfare Association on Wednesday in Abuja, she highlighted the unique pressures faced by officers’ spouses and children due to military service demands.

Oluyede asserted that resilient military families provide personnel with the peace of mind necessary to perform their duties effectively. She called for greater attention to children's mental and emotional wellbeing and urged parents to be aware of online risks such as cyberbullying and inappropriate content.

Additionally, she praised the National Defence College Officers’ Welfare Association for its timely focus on education and child protection. Mrs. Hauwa Ahmed, the Coordinator of the association, reiterated the commitment to promoting the welfare of women and children through various initiatives.
