POWA President Calls for Enhanced Support for Police Families

At the 2026 POWA National Convention in Abuja, Mr. Olufunmilola Disu, the National President of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), called for greater investment in welfare, mental wellness, and economic empowerment for police families.

Disu highlighted the resilience of police wives, who often endure hardships silently while supporting their husbands deployed across Nigeria. She noted that the association is increasingly focusing on practical interventions to address the everyday needs of police families, including healthcare, mental health, and economic empowerment programs.

Recent initiatives include providing free medical consultations and eyeglass prescriptions to 1,000 beneficiaries in Abuja. Disu also acknowledged the support of Inspector General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu and Senator Oluremi Tinubu, urging continued collaboration to strengthen support systems for police families.

She emphasized that the future welfare of police families depends on sustained investments in healthcare, education, and economic opportunities, which are essential for building resilient families and contributing to national security.
