Military Launches Operation Clean Sweep IV Against Terrorists

The Joint Task Force North-West, under Operation Fansan Yamma, initiated a major offensive named Operation Clean Sweep IV against terrorists and armed criminal networks in North-West Nigeria. The operation involves coordinated ground and air operations aimed at destroying terrorist networks, disrupting their logistics, and preventing the establishment of new bases.

Lt Col Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer, reported that on Wednesday, troops conducted a clearance operation in Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State, forcing terrorists to retreat. In Zamfara State, precision airstrikes targeted terrorists on motorcycles in Anka Local Government Area, neutralizing many and causing survivors to flee.

The operation focuses on dismantling the Lakurawa terrorist network and denying access to border areas used for movement and logistics. Additionally, it aims to prevent terrorist activities around the River Niger and Kainji Lake National Park, ensuring the protection of civilian communities and Nigeria's territorial integrity.
