Nigerian Armed Forces Achieve Major Successes Against Terrorism

Hon. Philip Agbese, the Deputy Spokesperson of the House of Representatives and a member of the Labour Party from Benue State, commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for their effective fight against terrorism and banditry. In an interview, he stated that the military has transitioned from rhetoric to becoming a serious threat to terrorist groups.

He praised key military leaders, including Minister of State Defence Dr Bello Matawalle, Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede, and Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for their strategic leadership. Recent operational successes in the North-East and North-West included the neutralization of 1,487 terrorists and insurgents, the rescue of 777 kidnapped victims, and the arrest of 354 suspects.

Operations under Operation Hadin Kai in the North-East and Operation Fansan Yamma in the North-West have intensified, with significant gains reported, including the neutralization of 114 terrorists and the arrest of 146 suspects in August alone.
