17 Terrorist Family Members Surrender in Borno State
A total of 17 family members of Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) surrendered to troops of Operation Hadin Kai in Borno State. Sixteen individuals, including 10 women and six children, surrendered in Konduga Local Government Area at approximately 9:15 a.m. on August 4, 2026, during a patrol by the 222 Battalion.
An additional family member, an 11-year-old child, surrendered in Bama Local Government Area around 12:04 p.m. on the same day. Capt. Muhammed Goni, the Acting Military Information Officer for Operation Hadin Kai, stated that the decision to surrender was influenced by the sustained military pressure on terrorist enclaves.
A total of ₦92,000 was recovered from the group during the surrender process. The surrendered individuals are undergoing preliminary profiling and debriefing and will be handed over to appropriate authorities for further procedures.
Goni assured that Operation Hadin Kai remains committed to maintaining pressure on terrorist elements in the North-East.
