Military Moves OPSH HQ to Mangu Amid Rising Violence

In response to escalating insecurity, the Joint Security Task Force, known as Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), has moved its tactical headquarters from Jos to Mangu Local Government Area in Plateau State. This relocation comes after a series of violent attacks, including a recent assault on Binper Village that resulted in over 25 fatalities.
Maj-Gen. Williams Dangana, the Commander of OPSH and General Officer Commanding, 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, stated that the decision aims to improve operational efficiency and response times. The relocation is supported by significant troop reinforcements, equipment, and logistics approved by the Chief of Army Staff, Lit-Gen. Waidi Shaibu.
Dangana emphasized that the military's presence in Mangu will facilitate real-time assessments of the security situation and enable timely tactical responses. Additionally, the military has initiated Operation Hard Nut to dismantle armed groups and restore order in Mangu and surrounding areas.
The OPSH is committed to maintaining a sustained presence to ensure the long-term safety of residents.
