FG Initiates Repairs on Oye-Ekiti-Kabba Road

The Federal Government has commenced emergency palliative work on the Oye-Ekiti/Ilupeju/Kabba road in Ekiti State, with Bello Goronyo, the Minister of State for Works, assuring that efforts are underway to clear traffic gridlock within 48 hours. The Nigerian Tribune reported that numerous articulated vehicles and trucks were stranded for days due to the road's collapse.

During his inspection of the road, Goronyo expressed concern for the motorists affected by the prolonged delays. He noted that the rehabilitation contract was awarded to Gamji in 2025, but work was stalled due to funding challenges.

The ministry plans to review funding arrangements to facilitate the contractor's return. Emergency interventions have been activated through the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, with construction materials deployed.

Goronyo announced that restrictions on articulated vehicle movement would be enforced during the palliative work. He also inspected the Efon-Iwaraja road, emphasizing the government's commitment to improving critical road infrastructure as directed by President Bola Tinubu.
