Federal Ministry of Works Acts to Resolve Maje-Dikko Gridlock

The Federal Ministry of Works has begun emergency interventions to resolve the severe gridlock along the Maje-Dikko axis of the Suleja-Minna corridor in Niger State. Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo, directed the concessionaire responsible for the area to complete immediate remedial works within 48 hours to restore traffic flow.

This directive was issued during Goronyo's inspection of the affected section, where he noted the significant hardship faced by motorists, commuters, and truck drivers trapped in the gridlock for several days. The intervention was prompted by directives from President Bola Tinubu and Minister of Works, David Umahi, who was inspecting federal road projects in Lagos at the time.

The ministry has mobilized the Federal Road Safety Corps, the concessionaire, and transportation stakeholders to coordinate the emergency response. The Maje-Dikko section is part of the approximately 7.9-kilometre Suleja-Minna corridor under a concession arrangement.

Goronyo attributed the pavement's deterioration to heavy movement of articulated vehicles, particularly those linked to the NNPC depot in the area, and mentioned that permanent rehabilitation would involve continuous reinforced concrete pavement.
