Mob Attacks KAROTA Officials After Highway Crash in Kano

On Wednesday, a mob attacked three members of the Kano State Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) after a highway crash at Kwanar Dawaki along Zaria Road. The incident occurred when a trailer collided with a Sharon commercial bus that had been stopped for a routine check by KAROTA personnel.

The trailer driver, who was speeding, caused the bus to somersault, resulting in serious injuries to many passengers. In response to the injuries sustained by the passengers, a group of angry youths attacked the KAROTA staff, inflicting serious injuries on them.

The truck driver fled the scene while attention was directed towards rescuing the injured. Faisal Mahmud Kabir, the Managing Director of KAROTA, urged the public to respect uniformed personnel and recognize their role in maintaining traffic order.

He commended the agency's personnel for their dedication to duty. Concerns have been raised by motorists regarding the agency's roadblock practices and allegations of extortion.
